欠けた部分が見つからない

私は彼らが完了したと信じることができない

それでもどこでもない場所は

親しさと居心地の悪さが混じりながら

再び空白に近づいていく

 

西山功一新作展では、今年６月に発表した「Nowhere」に引き続く「GOING BLANK AGAIN」を発表します。

このシリーズでは前作のテーマを継承しつつ、親密さと馴染めなさといった矛盾した性質が混在する風景を、

作家の生活圏からあまり離れていない都市周縁で撮影しています。

そして外の世界との整合への希求と共に、人工物と自然の接点の複雑な質感にも関心を向けています。

 

 

Some parts must be missing.

I can’t believe these are completed sights.

They pass unnoticed and go blank again　
while giving me a mixed feeling of familiarity and discomfort.

 

Koichi Nishiyama exhibits his new works in “GOING BLANK AGAIN” following “Nowhere” in June this year.

While the new series succeeds the theme of the previous exhibition,

he focuses this time on sceneries which evoke paradoxical feelings of intimacy and uneasiness.

He finds such landscape in urban neighborhood not so far from his living area.

He seeks a certain kind of alignment with the outer world, and at the same time,pays attention to complex textures created by the encounter of artificiality and nature, which he comes across on the way.
